Whenever a new Treasures event pops up in Monopoly Go, it is time to go pickaxe hunting. Like other main events, these pickaxes are your "tokens" to play the dig mini-game and collect all the rewards.
While some mini-game tokens are fairly easy to collect as they're scattered across the board, pickaxes are a bit hard to find. They're not on board and have very limited ways to get.
So, if you don't want to miss any rewards, check out all the sources for pickaxes listed below.
Where can you find free pickaxes in Monopoly Go?
You can find pickaxes in Monopoly Go through events, Quick Wins, and Free Gifts. Outside of these, some pickaxes are part of the Treasures events' reward pool.
Events
All the banner events—solo and leaderboard challenges—reward pickaxes whenever the mini-game runs. They will be your largest source of the tokens, and you won't be able to finish the Treasures without playing them.
Usually, new leaderboard challenges start a little later than Treasures (or any other mini-game). That means the featured tournament will be from yesterday with no pickaxe reward right as Treasures starts. So we recommend waiting and not rolling until the fresh leaderboard starts, usually 3-4 hours later.
Quick Wins
Quick Wins are your dailies in Monopoly Go, and you can catch them in the "WINS" section on the main menu. They always reward any event-specific tokens, and the pickaxe is no exception.
Like tournaments, sometimes Quick Wins are earlier than mini-games, so even here, it is best to delay claiming rewards by a few hours if you know main events are coming.

Free Gifts
Every 8 hours, you get one gift in the store that often rewards Sticker Packs, Dice, and Cash. It also rewards any event-specific tokens like pickaxes. The game will notify you once they're available, so you don't always have to keep an eye on the clock.
Are there any pickaxes links in Monopoly Go?
There are no active pickaxe links for Monopoly Go, but sometimes Scopely shares them as giveaways like dice links. All links are posted in the official Discord.
How many pickaxes do you need to complete Treasures?
How many pickaxes you'll need to complete Treasures depends on how many levels there are and how lucky you get. A safe bet is around 450 to 500 pickaxes for 25-level dig events and less for fewer levels.
Monopoly Go is a dice roller, so most things are purely on luck. But you should get enough pickaxes if you participate in most events and do your Quick Wins.
You should have at least 3000 dice rolls reserved to have a shot at finishing Treasures.
What happens to the leftover pickaxes?
All additional pickaxes are converted to dice once you finish the Treasures event. They do not carry over; this is the same for any other token in the game.
