Not sure how to expand the Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy? Here's what to know. In case you don't know already, the Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy allows you to store any beasts you've captured. It's part of the Room of Requirement and can be expanded over time. With it, you can access resources to upgrade gear.

Keep in mind, though, that you must complete first a few quests before you can access the Vivarium. Moreover, when expanding your Vivarium, you can increase the capacity of the beasts you house. It works in a similar way to using Merlin Trials to increase gear slots.

How to expand Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy

One of the things you should remember in expanding your Vivarium is that you can't exactly upgrade it. You can only increase the number of beasts it can hold. To do so, you need to complete some specific side quests, increasing your Vivarium capacity in turn.

With the starting Vivarium, the Forest one, you can unlock more Vivarium types such as the Coastal, Grassland, and Swamp Vivarium.

You'll need to work through the main story quests of the game for Vivarium expansion tasks to become available. Here's a list of the Vivarium side quests you should look out for:

  • Swamp Vivarium
    • Unlocks after completing the “Foal of the Dead” side quest.
  • Grassland Meadow Vivarium
    • Unlocks after completing the “Phoenix Rising” side quest.
  • Coastal Vivarium
    • Unlocks after completing “The Plight of the House-Elf” side quest.

Still, take note that unlocking all the Vivarium will be time-consuming. It's a good investment if you want to keep several magical beasts to adore and use, but it takes a while.
