Like many other games, Metaphor: ReFantazio uses MP to gauge magic and special ability usage. MP management is important for accessing powerful attacks or spells.
However, MP can be hard to replenish and is typically saved for tougher encounters. This article explains how to effectively use and recover your MP in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
How To Recover MP in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Managing MP efficiently will guarantee more chances of success in dungeon exploration and boss fights. Here are the essential tips for maximizing your resources:
Use Items Sparingly
MP recovery items are one of the best means of restoring magic points, but they are limited in quantity.
These should be used sparingly and reserved for bigger encounters, like boss battles. Stocking up before entering a dungeon is helpful, but relying entirely on items can leave you vulnerable if you run out mid-exploration.
Since these items are hard to come by, use them when absolutely necessary.
Resting to Recover MP
As in many Atlus games, resting at the end of the day is another method to restore MP.
Leaving the dungeon and ending the day will fully restore your MP. However, this method is time-consuming and may not always be feasible if you’re trying to finish a dungeon quickly.
It's a good fallback option when you're low on resources and nearing the end of a run, but it's not ideal for those trying to clear dungeons efficiently.
Mage Archetype and MP Farming
One of the best ways to recover MP without relying on items or leaving the dungeon is by utilizing the Mage Archetype.
The Mage class has a passive ability called Magic Recovery that restores MP when stunning or defeating enemies. The initial cost to learn the Mage Archetype is 500 Magla, and this purchase comes with the necessary gear to jump straight into using the Archetype.
This allows you to restore MP gradually as you progress through the dungeon. You need to focus on weaker enemies to ensure that you can recover MP faster without exhausting too much effort.
Although the Mage might not deal the most damage, rationing MP during extended runs is necessary. To use this strategy effectively, clear waves of enemies using the Mage’s abilities.
You can also respawn enemies to farm MP indefinitely by re-entering the dungeon after exiting. This method keeps your party’s MP levels steady without needing constant item use.
Utilizing Ariadne's Thread and Fast Travel
To keep farming, you can respawn enemies by returning to the dungeon entrance or using tools like Ariadne's Thread, which transports you back to the entrance without leaving the dungeon entirely.
Safe rooms also enable fast travel to the dungeon entrance, providing another way to respawn enemies without disrupting your dungeon progress.
MP Management During Combat
Alongside using the Mage for recovery, you also need to manage MP efficiently in combat.
Stun enemies before engaging to minimize MP usage. If you stun an enemy, it prevents them from attacking or taking action. This means you can use fewer abilities to defeat them.
For example, you could use a low-cost spell or physical attack instead of using a high-MP spell to finish off a stunned enemy. When your party takes damage, instead of using MP to cast healing spells, you can use healing potions or other recovery items.
This method keeps you from using up your MP in trivial fights, ensuring you have plenty for harder encounters.
