Lastly, you have to place a roof to build your bed under. You can't build a bed in Palworld unless you have a roof over your head. This serves the purpose of teaching you basic base building as well as keeping you safe from danger when time passes. If you remove the roof, you won't be able to use the bed.

You can also build beds for your Pals at the base. This is a necessity as without a bed, your Pals will become stressed, depressed, and possibly die. You can unlock the Straw Pal Bed next to the Shoddy Bed and build it anywhere. You don't need a roof for this one. Make sure the number of beds on your base is never less than the number of assigned Pals.

How do beds work in Palworld?

When you sleep in your bed after a long time or at night time it will trigger a quick cutscene that will skip you ahead several hours into the morning. This doesn't change much for you, but it's worth doing at night when you want to skip hours of low visibility.
