Reynatis is an action RPG set in a modern-day version of Shibuya, Tokyo, where magic is outlawed and the government heavily monitors wizards. The story follows Marin Kirizumi, a wizard seeking power, and Sari Nishijima, an officer hunting rogue wizards.

For some, the story may be hard to follow due to its heavy use of unique terminology and complex pacing. In this article, we’ll cover beginner tips to help you succeed as you explore the intriguing world of Marin and Sari.

Reynatis - Beginner's Tips

The battle system is designed to feel fast-paced and dynamic, but it can overwhelm players with its speed and the need for constant MP management. The game also doesn't have adjustable difficulty settings, which forces players to adapt to its mechanics.

Here’s the perfect beginner’s guide to help you find your footing and make the most of Reynatis.

1. Use Burst Liberation to Your Advantage

Burst Liberation in Reynatis is a core combat mechanic that lets you freeze time briefly and unleash powerful attacks on enemies.

This system is activated by switching from Suppressed Mode, where you focus on dodging and building your magic gauge, to Liberated Mode, where you can deal devastating blows.

The more effectively you dodge attacks, the quicker you can fill up your magic meter and use Burst Liberation. When activated, it slows time and allows you to land multiple hits on your enemies while they are vulnerable. This gives you a tactical advantage, especially in boss fights where timing is everything.

Suppressed Mode is especially important in combat to dodge enemy attacks while filling up your magic. Once full, switch to Liberated Mode to release a powerful Burst Liberation that can shift the tide of battle. Keep an eye on enemy attack patterns; bosses, in particular, have large, telegraphed attacks that give you ample time to dodge and set up a powerful counter.

2. Pay Attention to Attack Types

Not all attacks can be absorbed using the Burst Liberation mechanic.

Some enemy attacks, such as projectiles or large magical area attacks, require precise dodging instead of absorption. You need to be able to identify when an attack can’t be absorbed and quickly react to avoid it.

Early on, you’ll encounter a few non-absorbable enemy attacks, but these increase as you progress. You’ll need to focus on dodging instead of relying solely on absorbing attacks through Burst Liberation. When facing enemies that throw projectiles, you have a brief window to dodge before they hit.

In boss fights, glowing attacks or large-area magical strikes need to be evaded with proper timing. Regularly practice dodging so that you can react without hesitation when the heat is on.

3. Leverage the Wizart System

The Wizart System in Reynatis is the game’s primary way of upgrading your characters.

As you explore Shibuya, you’ll encounter graffiti-like collectibles called Wizart. These graffiti pieces aren’t just for show—they unlock various upgrades, skills, and bonuses that improve your combat abilities.

The more Wizart you collect, the stronger your characters become, giving you more ways to customize your powers to suit your playstyle. To fully benefit from the Wizart system, you’ll want to explore every part of the map. Completing side quests and reducing your Malice Level (which measures animosity toward magic users) will unlock additional Wizarts that offer valuable boosts.

These can range from increasing your attack power to enhancing your magic abilities, so don’t skip out on side activities. Additionally, experiment with Wizarts to see which combinations best suit your fighting style—whether you prefer high-damage output or defensive strategies.

4. Monitor Stress Levels in Combat

Stress in Reynatis is a double-edged sword. As Stress builds up, attack power increases, and so does risk.

If your stress reaches critical levels, your character is forced into Liberated Mode, which can be dangerous in some situations.

Keeping stress under control is key to staying flexible in combat. To reduce stress, engage in relaxing activities such as eating meals or petting cats scattered throughout the city.

These moments of relaxation help you maintain control of your character and prevent you from being pushed into unwanted combat scenarios. Stress management becomes especially important during longer fights or when facing off against difficult bosses.

5. Strategically Rotate Your Party Members

In Reynatis, you can switch between different party members mid-battle, each with unique abilities. However, switching isn’t unlimited—a cooldown timer restricts how often you can switch characters. This means you’ll need to be mindful about when and why you swap between team members.

A key advantage of switching characters is that they regenerate MP when a member is not in use. This allows you to rotate through your team to keep up a steady stream of magic attacks. For example, you can deplete one character’s MP in combat and switch them out to regenerate while using another team member’s abilities.

Certain characters are better suited for specific situations, such as dealing with ranged enemies or crowd control, so plan your switches based on the type of enemies you're facing. Properly utilizing your party members can drastically improve your chances in tough fights.

6. Understanding How Trending Rank Works

Trending Rank measures how much attention you're drawing from the authorities, specifically the Magic Enforcement Administration (MEA).

Your rank will rise as you engage in combat or use magic in public, making it easier for the MEA to detect your presence. The system works similarly to a wanted level in games like Grand Theft Auto, where the higher your rank, the more likely you are to be pursued.

If your rank gets too high, the MEA will pursue you, making it difficult to navigate the city or focus on your objectives. The Trending Rank system can escalate quickly if you’re not careful. Your rank increases after a combat encounter or use of magic, but there’s a grace period before people start reporting you.

You need to act fast once a battle ends—don’t linger in the area. Check your map for Safe Spots, marked by eye icons, which are areas where you can reset your Trending Rank. Pushing a fight closer to these locations can make it easier to escape attention once the battle is over.

Once combat finishes, immediately sprint toward the nearest Safe Spot to lower your Trending Rank before the MEA is alerted. If you’re too far from a Safe Spot, use the Fast Travel feature to quickly escape the danger zone and avoid being chased by the MEA.

And that's it for our beginner's tips on navigating the intense world of Reynatis! Remember to stay adaptable and explore every corner of Shibuya for the best upgrades and experiences.
