The Rebirth Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake is a mysterious, supernatural finale unlocked only in New Game Plus. This ending focuses on James' quest to bring his late wife, Mary, back to life through an occult ritual.
However, you'll need to gather four specific ritual items in your second playthrough. This article will guide you through the locations of all four Rebirth items necessary to unlock this unique ending.
All Item Locations for the Rebirth Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake
To achieve the Rebirth Ending in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you must collect four ritual items that are only available during a New Game+ playthrough.
This means you need to have completed the game at least once. The Rebirth Ending ties into James’ desire to undo the past by using these items to resurrect Mary through an ancient ritual involving the Old Gods of Silent Hill.
Here’s where you can track down each one:
Crimson Ceremony Book - The first item on your list is the Crimson Ceremony Book, located in the Graveyard where you meet Angela for the first time. After your conversation with her, walk toward the water’s edge. Look for a leafless tree near the shore with a gravestone nearby. The book (marked by an eye symbol) will be resting against it.
White Chrism - After meeting Maria, walk through South Vale to get to Jack’s Inn. After unlocking the gate, make your way to Baldwin Mansion. Outside the entrance of the mansion, you will find the White Chrism sitting on a table.
Obsidian Goblet -The Obsidian Goblet, on the other hand, is hidden inside the Silent Hill Historical Society. When you enter the building, head to the main hall where the large painting of Pyramid Head is displayed. Turn around and look for a small shelf or cubby built into the wall to the right of the painting. You will then find the goblet, one of the final pieces for the ritual.
Lost Memories Book - The final item is the Lost Memories Book, which you will find in the Lost & Found section of the Lakeside Hotel on the first floor (1F). This item replaces the memo found in the area during your first playthrough. Once you collect the Lost Memories Book, it will be the final key to unlocking the Rebirth Ending.
Make sure to grab it only when you are ready to commit to this ending, as obtaining all four ritual items locks you into the Rebirth Ending.
Once you have all four Rebirth items, carry on through the Lakeside Hotel. This is the final area in the game. Expect some puzzles and enemies on your path, but the goal is to reach Room 312, where everything wraps up.
When you reach the final stretch of the game, you’ll face the final boss, Maria, in the guise of Mary. Once the final boss is defeated and you have all four items in your inventory, the Rebirth Ending will automatically trigger.
In this ending, James is seen sailing across Toluca Lake, carrying what appears to be Mary’s body, wrapped in white cloth. He’s driven by the belief that he can bring her back to life through the ritual.
However, the outcome of this ritual is left open to interpretation. Players are left to speculate on whether James succeeds in reviving Mary or if he faces darker consequences.
