Trout Derby Festival Guide
The Trout Derby occurs annually on Summer 20 and 21 and runs from 6:10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on both days. Head to Cindersap Forest, located south of your farm, to join the festival. Look for the area near Marnie’s Ranch by the river, where you will find a few fishermen and a tent representing the event. Unlike other festivals, this location is not blocked, so you can come and go freely.
How to Participate in the Trout Derby
To compete in the Trout Derby, you must fish for Rainbow Trout in the nearby river. You can catch Rainbow Trout on sunny days throughout the season. During the Derby, they are guaranteed to be available all day, regardless of weather. Equip your fishing rod, head to the river, and try to catch as many Rainbow Trout as possible.
Every Rainbow Trout you catch has a 33% chance of containing a Golden Tag, which you can trade at the festival booth for various prizes. You can catch multiple fish simultaneously to increase your chance of getting a Golden Tag. You can also use bait or buff items to improve your fishing efficiency to increase your odds.
If you have Fishing Mastery, you can use a Challenge Bait. It allows you to catch multiple fish simultaneously, enhancing your odds of obtaining a Golden Tag. Those looking to improve their chances even further can also use a Sonar Bobber that will help them indicate a Rainbow Trout on the line.
Trout Derby Rewards and Prize Booth
Once you have caught a Rainbow Trout with a Golden Tag, head to the prize booth on the river’s northern shore. Your first Golden Tag always earns you a Tent Kit, allowing you to camp by the river. Doing this will make it easier for you to stay at the festival.
You can exchange the rest of the Golden Tags for random prizes. Each Golden Tag you collect can be exchanged for the following items, which will be given to you in a specific order:
