Leaning while aiming is quite easy to do in Starfield. Simply get behind some cover that you want to peek out of and protect yourself. Preferably, get behind a wall or any pillar that can cover your character.
After that, you must simply aim down your sights and your character will immediately lean out of the cover to take a peek at the battlefield. This is done by right-clicking on your mouse if you're on PC and using the right trigger if you use an Xbox controller.
