Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has officially launched, and while we’re seeing multiple new additions to the recent title, certain features return. An excellent (and noteworthy) example here is the Theater Mode, especially if you’re a content creator.

What is Theater Mode in Black Ops 6, and how will it benefit players? We’ll be deep-diving into this below.

What is Theater Mode?

Theater Mode was initially introduced in Black Ops 1, the first title in Call of Duty’s Black Ops series. This feature simply allows players to watch replays of their matches.

But that’s not all. Players can view the footage from multiple camera angles—first-person, third-person, and whatnot. They can also edit these clips, applying effects such as “slow-motion” to capture certain key moments in their heroic gameplay.

Black Ops 6 Theater Mode: What We Know So Far

According to Call of Duty’s Official Website, the Theater Mode has undergone multiple changes compared to previous Black Ops titles.

Here’s everything we know about the feature so far:

  • Camera Angles: The first improvement in Black Ops 6 will be that players can view everyone’s perspective in multiple camera angles, namely first-person, third-person, and fly-cam.
  • Elimination and Deaths: Another upgrade here is the display of players' Eliminations and Deaths during the clip. These will be displayed on the timeline. This is beneficial as it would allow players to skip or switch between different time intervals between a player’s elimination or death, making capturing key moments within a clip easier.
  • Playback Controls: This is self-explanatory. Numerous playback controls will be displayed on the bottom-mid side of the screen to control the video clip.
  • Recording in Theater Mode: Players can now also hit the Record button on their consoles to save the footage to their console’s storage rather than keeping it within the game files. This is important for the other changes that have been included (discussed below).

While there’s good news surrounding the Theater Mode, there’s something you should note. Clips saved in Theater Mode will only stay active for 7 days. Your clips will be removed if a game update drops during the 7-day window.

There’s plenty of confusion surrounding the ‘game update’ notion, as COD regularly drops minor updates alongside playlist updates. If that’s the case, this would jeopardize the Theater Mode, usage-wise.

How to Access the Theater Mode in Black Ops 6?

This is relatively straightforward. Go to Multiplayer Main Menu and click on Options. You’ll see Theater written at the end from the main options window.

Theater Mode Unavailable in Older-Gen Consoles

While the return of Theater Mode is great news for new-generation console players and content creators alike, old-generation members will remain disappointed.

While unveiling the feature recently, Call of Duty mentioned that the Theater Mode was unavailable for previous generations like PS4 and Xbox One. This makes sense, especially considering that Call of Duty tends to shift towards using newer hardware for its titles.
