If you're getting into World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King Classic expansion, then one of the big things that you'll be doing is the many dungeons. There's a good amount of them, each with some special mechanics that need to be handled. As such, our The Oculus dungeon guide will cover everything about the dungeon, especially if you're doing it for the first time.
This dungeon is an late leveling dungeon in this expansion in the Borean Tundra. The entrance is right above the entrance to the Nexus. This dungeon has some unique mechanics, and is quite fun.
While you're here, if you're looking to figure out what class and spec you want to play in Wrath Classic, be sure to check out our DPS tier list, Healer tier list, and Tank tier list. Also be sure to check out our speed leveling guide.
The Oculus dungeon guide
When you enter the dungeon, head along the pathway, killing any adds. At the end, click the portal to be transported to the first boss.
Drakos the Interrogator
Drakos the Interrogator is the first boss in this dungeon. He has three main abilities.
- Thundering Stomp
- Summon Unstable Sphere
- Magic Pull
This is a pretty easy fight. When the boss pulls you in, be sure to reposition quickly afterwards to avoid the stomp. Also make sure to avoid any Unstable Spheres, as they'll detonate, dealing damage to anyone within 12 yards.
After this, three figures will walk out of the cages. Talking to them will allow you pick a dragon to ride. Tanks should take Red, Healers should take Green and DPS should take Bronze. This will give you an item to click on that will summon the dragon.
From here you will ride your drakes to platforms that have Centrifuge Constructs. There will be two platforms with three each on them, and on the inner ring will be the final four. After those are defeated, you can fly to the next boss.
Varos Cloudstrider
Varos Cloudstrider is the second boss and has three main abilities.
- Amplify Magic
- Energize Cores
- Call Azure Ring Captain
The Amplify Magic ability is a damage and healing received boost, so take advantage of that. The Energize Cores ability will energize a segment of the platform, so move away from that segment. The Asure Ring Captain will channel a beam to a random locations player and will move towards another player. Move out of that beam. Otherwise the boss is pretty straight forward.
After this, you'll have to fly up to the tri platform layer to fight the next boss.
Mage-Lord Urom
The next boss is Mage-Lord Urom. Upon pulling the boss, he will summon some mobs, and teleport to the next platform. He will do this three times, then teleport to the middle platform. He has three main abilities.
- Frostbomb
- Time Bomb
- Empowered Arcane Explosion
This fight is pretty straight forward. Frostbomb will be launched at an area, freezing the ground. The boss should be moved out of this, as should everyone else. Time Bomb is placed on a random player, and will detonate dealing damage to anyone within 10 yards. Healers should make sure that this player is topped up to lessen the damage dealt. That person should also move away from the group if possible
The final ability, Empowered Arcane Explosion, will send out a wave of damage to anyone who is within his line of sight. You can leverage some of the terrain on this platform to break line of sight from the boss. Tanks should also try to have a damage mitigation cooldown at the ready just in case. After this hop on your drake and fly up for the final encounter.
Ley-Guardian Eregos
Ley-Guardian Eregos is the final boss in this dungeon and has a very unique set of mechanics for this in that you use your drakes to fight him. He also does have four main abilities with one more on Heroic.
- Arcane Barrage
- Arcane Volley
- Enraged Assault
- Summon Greater Ley-Whelp
- Planar Shift (Heroic)
For this fight, you're going to be primarily dealing damage to the boss while flying around. He will occasionally summon whelps that should be dealt with. On Heroic, the boss will shift into the astral plane for 18 seconds. When he shifts, he will summon Planar Anomalies to the skies and you must deal with those by the time he shifts back.
And that's the dungeon! This is one of the most unique dungeons that can be a bit confusing if you don't know what's going on, but hopefully you should be well equipped to take this on.
