Packing great damage, rate of fire, and predictable recoil, the MP7 is a fan-favorite SMG in XDefiant despite it lacking in the range department, coming in just behind the Vector. With the best XDefiant MP7 loadout, you can take this agile SMG to the next level thanks to improved mobility, handling, and time-to-kill.

Although it’s a very popular weapon, if you take a look at the stats, it’s clear the MP7 isn’t actually one of the best XDefiant guns in the meta. With severe damage-range drop-off compared to the P90 and MP5A2, and only a fraction of a second faster TTK, the MP7 isn’t quite as dominant as its popularity would have you believe. I can’t say it’s not an incredibly fun weapon to use though; it’s also one of my favorite weapons. Luckily, with the right build, the MP7 can still be devastating.

Best XDefiant MP7 Loadout

The best XDefiant MP7 build is:

  • Muzzle: Barrel Extender
  • Barrel: Rapid Fire Barrel
  • Front Rail: Pistol Grip
  • Magazine: Quick Mag
  • Rear Grip: Quick Draw Grip

The aim of the game with an MP7 loadout is to make it as agile as possible. Since it has significant damage drop-off, you’re better off using either the P90 or MP5A2, or a different weapon class entirely when it comes to mid-range fights. Instead, having high mobility can make up for this by letting you race around the XDefiant maps at the speed of light to catch your enemies out.

Increasing both short and medium range by 10%, the Barrel Extender is the only attachment worth using to improve the MP7s range. Doing so will let you deal the maximum 19 damage per shot up to 17 meters, rather than 15 meters. It’s a small but noticeable difference, especially as the MP7 is surprisingly controllable.

Next is the Rapid Fire Barrel, which boosts the weapon’s rate of fire by 5% at the cost of 20% horizontal and vertical recoil control. When you’re up in the enemy’s face like you should be with the MP7, the downsides are irrelevant compared to the 919 RPM you’ll be dishing out. If you really don’t care about range, then you could swap the Barrel Extender for the Muzzle Booster for a further RPM increase and recoil control decrease. However, I’ve found this to be overkill so I lean towards the slight range increase instead.

From here, the Pistol Grip, Quick Mag, and Quick Draw Grip are all about amping up the MP7's close-range handling, though there are plenty of alternatives to suit your playstyle. Improving sprint-shoot time by 10% and min/max spread accuracy by 20% each, the Pistol Grip brings a lot to the table. Given you’ll be running around a lot, this lets you begin firing sooner, as well as improving your hip-fire spread. The Superlight Grip is a strong alternative, though its benefits are less impactful overall.

Next, the Quick Mag not only improves your reload speed by a mouthwatering 15% but also increases your magazine size by five. The Fast Mag is arguably the stronger option here, further improving reload speed, but the ADS speed decrease is noticeable. Finally, the classic Quick Draw Grip, a staple on most weapons right now, improves both sprint-shoot time and ADS speed by 10% to make the MP7 even more of a monster up close.

All in all, this MP7 loadout is perfect for those who like to stay on the move and get up close and personal. While it’s accurate enough to take out enemies just beyond 17 meters, keep in mind that you’ll be outmatched.

XDefiant MP7 Class Setup

You’ve got a close-range beast in the MP7 but it won’t always cut it. So, it’s time to start thinking about the rest of the class setup, including your pistol and equipment.

Having the best range of any sidearm, the 686 Magnum is the best choice for the pistol slot. Whether you’ve run out of ammo in the MP7 or simply want to take out an enemy from afar, the Magnum has you covered. Use the Muzzle Booster, Quick Draw Grip, and Reflex Sight for the best performance.

When it comes to your grenade, the Sticky Grenade is the strongest option. Although it has a smaller blast radius than the Frag, the Sticky deals more damage and is better suited to close-range fights, especially if you can glue it to an enemy directly. Don’t underestimate the EMP Grenade though. If you’re looking to charge in on the more objective-based XDefiant game modes, you’re bound to run into a lot of enemy shields that can stop you in your tracks. The EMP can swiftly disable these and leave enemies vulnerable.

As for which of the XDefiant Factions to choose, there’s no wrong option for the MP7. Whereas mid-range weapons such as the RPK-74 generally suffer when playing as a Cleaner due to the burn passive reducing effective damage range to compensate, close-range weapons like the MP7 work wonders. Depending on the mode, I like to pair the MP7 with the Cleaner or Libertad classes.

How to Unlock the MP7 in XDefiant

To unlock the MP7 in XDefiant, you have to get 20 point-blank kills with SMGs. Point-blank kills are eliminations within five meters, meaning you have to get up close and personal with your favorite SMG to beat this challenge.

This challenge can be surprisingly tricky, especially if you don't have a solid understanding of the maps, as mid-range weapons like the ACR are very popular. This makes closing the gap a task in its own right. I recommend using the Vector and equipping it with attachments that boost movement speed and handling stats.

That’s all you need to know to make the best XDefiant MP7 loadout, complete with the attachments, class, and character you should pair it with. Check out the XDefiant guns list for even more options for the best XDefiant loadouts before XDefiant Season 1 drops.
