343 Industries is adding a Slayer playlist to Halo Infinite in the December 14 update after previously saying it would have to wait until 2022. The developers made the announcement in a Reddit post outlining other changes coming in the update, including several additional playlists.
The Halo Infinite December 14 update will include these playlists:
- Fiesta
- FFA
- Tactical Slayer
- Slayer
343 originally promised the first three for December, but thought the effort required for a fully functional, separate Slayer playlist would make it take much longer. Instead, they've decided to release a basic version of the playlist and promised new features for it will start rolling out next year.

343 Is Adding a Halo Infinite Slayer Playlist in New Update
"As I noted last week, the team's original plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren't going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break," 343 said in the statement. "To address player feedback for Slayer in the near term, we'll be releasing a basic Slayer offering to start and will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update."
The new update will remove certain mode-specific challenges to make weekly challenge progression smoother and introduces playlist-specific challenges instead. 343 teased a step toward "performance-based XP" as well, but offered little information other than it's part of a new challenge category.
