The Finals Season 2 release date
The release date for Season 2 of The Finals is confirmed to be March 14, 2024. Revealed in a new YouTube trailer by the developers, the new season aims to add a lot of new content for fans to enjoy.
This means that there will only be a small amount of downtime between the two battle passes. With The Finals Season 1 battle pass ending on March 13, 2024, fans will be able to start the next battle pass just hours later.
Everything we know about The Finals Season 2
Embark Studios has officially confirmed most of the new content coming to The Finals Season 2, although some remain quite vague. For example, we have details on every new gadget and specialisation coming to the title, but no details on the new weapons you can play with.
Battle pass
A completely new battle pass will be added in The Finals Season 2, offering a bunch of new cosmetics for players to unlock. Alongside new sprays and charms, the Season 2 Battle Pass includes a number of new costumes, emotes, weapon skins and more.
The Finals Season 2 battle pass is mostly themed after a hacking group. This includes the addition of a new robotic skin, a TV head skin and more. A brand-new pet is also included in the form of a cute toy robot that players can have with them.
New map
An all-new map is being added in The Finals Season 2, dubbed SYS$HORIZON. Shown in a new trailer, the brand-new map is set in a hacker-style world as the game show around you falls apart. It's a new look, focusing on vaporwave-style pinks and blues instead of the more natural colours of Souel and Las Vegas.
Given the game's limited map pool of maps, it's great that Embark has expanded in this area of The Finals, but some fans were hoping for more. However, new game modes are also coming in Season 2, and you can check out more information on those below.
The Finals Season 2 New Gadgets
In the trailer for The Finals Season 2, we got a great look at all the new gadgets coming to the free-to-play game. Embark Studios has gone all out with a large number of new gadgets to play with that can be unlocked with the game's VRS tokens.
Here's a breakdown of all of The Finals Season 2's new gadgets:
- Gateway - This new gadget is a teleportation tool that players can use to jump elsewhere in the map. The gadget can also be used by your teammates and other players, adding even more strategy to the game. Gateway is only available for the Light Build.
- Data Reshaper - The Data Reshaper gadget allows you to change what items appear in the map. By aiming this at an item in the map, you can completely change what it is. For example, you can change an enemy turret into a cleaning sign or a flower pot into a gas canister. However, this effect appears to be random. This gadget is available for the Medium Build.
- Anti Gravity Cube - One of the most interesting new gadgets in The Finals Season 2, the Anti Gravity Cube spawns a bubble that reverses gravity. This means that you can soar through the air to reach a cashout or throw enemies off balance. Only Heavy Build characters can use this gadget.
The Finals Season 2 new specialisation
Embark Studios has revealed a brand-new specialisation for The Finals Season 2 in the former of the Dematerialiser. This new ability allows you to quickly remove a chunk of the map, such as a wall or ceiling, to open up new exits, quickly move a cashout and more.
The Dematerialiser is available for the Medium Build, giving the class more ways to move around the map. Typically, only Heavy Builds can easily alter the map with the sledgehammer weapon or the Charge and Slam specialisation.
The Finals Season 2 new weapons
In the new season, fans will be able to experience new weapons for each class in the game. The Finals Season 2 new weapons will include a brand-new tool for Light, Medium and Heavy players.
- KS-23 slug shotgun - This new primary weapon is designed for the heavy build. This new shotgun packs an extra punch, blasting through wallls with ease, continuing the class' trend of causing mass destruction.
- FAMAS assault rifle - This is another rifle for the medium class that will have its own skins. While it doesn't seem to add anything new to the sandbox, it is a different feeling AR to toy with.
- 93R machine pistol - A new automatic pistol for the light class, this new weapon will give light players an alternative to the SMG.
New Game Modes
Embark has revealed two brand-new game modes for The Finals Season 2. Well, kinda. Alongside the addition of Power Shift, a 5v5 mode that features frequently changing modifiers. This new mode is a form of King of the Hill with a moving platform that smashes through buildings and other structures over the course of the match.
Season 2 also includes the addition of private matches. Fans have been asking for private matches since the game's open beta, but it's taken a while for the option to be added into the game. With The Finals Season 2, private matches are now a reality, but the big focus is on Power Shift.
New weapons and balancing
Season 2 will bring new weapons to The Finals, but these have yet to be revealed. While there is already a huge host of weapons for each class, Embark Studios is working on more toys for classes to play with. One curious omission is an explosive weapon for the Light Build class, so hopefully one will make an appearance sometime during The Finals Season 2.
Alongside new weapons, there will probably also be some balance changes to existing weapons at the start of Season 2. So far, Embark Studios have shown that they aren't afraid to make both minor and significant changes to weapons in The Finals, and further balancing will likely occur throughout Season 2. Consequently, this could have some fairly major implications for The Finals' meta.
