Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Release Date Estimate
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2's zig-zag development has led to its fans wondering if it'll ever come out at all. Troubled development these days often ends up with the game being shelved or delayed indefinitely. Regardless, there is a release date: 2024.
Considering that we're already halfway through the year, the release for The Chinese Room's vampire RPG has very little room to breathe in an already jam-packed year. In all honestly, our estimate release date for the game puts it in an early 2025 release at the very best.
That said, if we are to believe 2024 really is the year for a vampire RPG like this one, we'd put the game's release to be sometime in Winter 2024. We feel this is the best time for Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 due to just how many RPGs are set to release this upcoming fall. A Winter 2024 deadline would give The Chinese Room's upcoming game the space necessary to shine.
Even so, release dates change! Keep an eye on this hub as often as possible, as we'll be updating it with the latest news and making changes accordingly.
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Platforms
Players can expect Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 on the following platforms: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
It does not look as the vampire RPG will be launching on last gen consoles. Unfortunate news for PS4, Xbox One and, while we didn't seriously expect it for this platform, Nintendo Switch owners.
Even without Bloodlines 2, there are still plenty of World of Darkness games out there on a variety of platforms, so supernatural lovers aren't left out in the cold completely.
Is Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 An RPG?
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is an action RPG.
This means it combines features of an action-orientated video game -- such as fast, innovative combat systems -- with the in-depth dialogue and a varied level of choice and progression that is prominent within the RPG genre.
As Paradox Interactive, Bloodlines 2's publisher, puts it: "there are elements of both action playstyle and role-playing playstyles, depending on how you want to play the game." If you like a bit of both, there's a chance you'll like what The Chinese Room and Paradox's upcoming game.
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Story
Players will take on the role of Phyre, an Elder vampire who awakes after centuries of sleeping to find out that the dark underworld of Seattle has left them behind. And what's worse is that now? Now a war is coming.
Alongside Phyre is a character called Fabian. The latter shares a bond with Phyre and is said to live "inside" them, speaking to them through their head and acting as a guide throughout the main storyline. An addition that is certainly needed, as Phyre will need to take advantage of this mental bond to understand this new and modern world.
Due to the game being set in the World of Darkness, players should expect to maneuver and analyse complex political relationships, particularly with the Masquerade - the high society of vampires that demand utter secrecy - and the rest of the clans. You will be able to choose which four clans Phyre belongs to, which comes with its own twists and turns.
Is Phyre Customizable in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2?
Phyre will be able to be customized by players in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2.
As the main character, it was important for The Chinese Room to give players control of how Phyre looked. Phyre's gender, appearance, outfits and vampire clan are all up to the player from the very beginning of the game. Clans in particular have certain characteristics and features, though the extent of that has not yet been revealed.
Phyre's personality will also be able to be influenced in some way or other through choices within conversations. The Chinese Room writes that "choices and conversations (even outfits!) shape how the environment and characters react to Phyre, changing how the story unfolds."
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Playable Clans
There are 4 clans that Phyre is able to choose to belong to: Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, and Ventrue.
Each clan has characteristics and features that will allow them to thrive in their environment.
- Brujah - A clan of radicals that are guided by passion and fierce determination to an ideal. Rebellion is key and encouraged in this clan, and their melee prowess is second to none.
- Tremere - A clan of scholars and academics who thirst for more knowledge. These vampires are experts in blood sorcery, and can use this sustenence (their own and others) as a deadly weapon.
- Banu Haqim - A clan cursed for the thirst of Blood from vampires, not humans. This clan adheres to a strict code of conduct, only sating their hunger on criminal Vampires. They excel at stealth and assassination.
- Ventrue - A clan of blue bloods who believe themselves to be the rightful leaders of vampire society. They dominate their opponents through the use of their minds, forcing them to bend to their will.
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Combat
No matter whether you're into combat or not, The Chinese Room have made it that combat is visceral, punchy and offers enough variety for all players that jump into the game.
As we've learned from looking at the playable clans, there are a number of different ways for players to express themselves and their prowess through different styles of combat.
- Melee - Players are able to use brute strength against their enemies, viciously attacking with martial hits with tremendous physical strength.
- Blood Magic - Tremere's magic is all about the blood, and considering this is a vampire RPG, there's lots of it. With blood magic, players are able to use blood as melee and ranged weapons of destruction.
- Stealth - Sneaking up on enemies and attacking them before they even realize you're there is a power move.
- Mind Domination - Sometimes the best offence is a strong defence, and what's better defence than getting a ton of guys to do what you want them to do with your mind?
