We're still a way off before Gran Turismo 7 arrives on PS5. With Sony confirming last February it'll be delayed until next year, fans have eagerly awaited a new update on Polyphony Digital's iconic racing simulator.

Gran Turismo Director Wants New Entry To Be More Realistic Than Reality
Speaking with Sony's former chief digital officer Masayuki Chatani, he outlined his view for the franchise's future, confirming: "Well, I intend to continue Gran Turismo going forward, which will be in the same boat as the car culture and automobile industry. At the same time, I would like to also do something different."
Highlighting a potential shift from his long-standing racing focus, Yamauchi details his belief that games can become "digital twins" to the real world, also stating: "I would like to take on the challenge of creating a world where people feel more reality than the real thing, whether this is through Grand Turismo or not."
As an example, Yamauchi discusses his childhood, saying digital experiences can recreate things that are "probably not possible" now, confirming: "In the 1970s, mountain foothills and flat land, very much like the world of Totoro, extended in my hometown Kashiwa City. As I liked to collect insects and climb mountains from when I was a child, I used to spend all day in the forest or played in the river."
Though this doesn't tell us much about Gran Turismo 7 itself, the interview offers a clear insight into Polyphony Digital's vision, and we're hopeful to learn more soon.
