Call of Duty: Black Ops III is not a next-gen exclusive, as confirmed by Activision today.
The title will be releasing on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles as well as the previously announced Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC releases. Unlike the current gen versions, which are being developed by Call of Duty studio Treyarch, the previous gen versions of the game are being co-developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology. It has been confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will not receive a Wii U version.
The beta, which has been previously confirmed for those that pre-order the title ahead of release, will be exclusive to Xbox One, PlayStion 4 and PC. A pre-order of either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions of the game will not provide access to the closed multiplayer beta.
Activision also stated that previous gen versions of the game will have feature differences due to the lack of parity between the machines. During campaign mode, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will only support 2 player co-operative play, unlike the current gen machines which have been confirmed to feature 4 player co-op. It was also confirmed that there were additional feature differences that would be discussed in more depth at a later date.
