How Will Microtransactions Work In Modern Warfare 2019?

Contrary to popular belief, it is Activision that makes the the call on MTX systems and not Infinity Ward. While leading up to the beta, they couldn't comment on thosethe systems and what would feature in Modern Warfare but were pushing hard for a player-forward system; meaning they want players to be rewarded for playing the game. They also went on to say that things like camos are seen as status symbols and a sign of a player that has put a lot of time into the game.

They confirmed that loot boxes will not be included in Modern Warfare and will instead be replaced by a battle pass. Weapons will be earned post-launch through gameplay, as well as any other items that impact the balance of gameplay; such as attachments.

Battle Pass

Modern Warfare will introduce a battle pass, which will feature cosmetics items only. The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch with timed post-launch seasons, so you can unlock new content that matches each season.

There will be both a Free Stream and a Premium Stream of content in the Battle Pass. New base weapons will be earned through gameplay, simply by playing Modern Warfare. The Battle Pass and the In-Game Store will feature a variety of cosmetic content that does not impact game balance.

With the new Battle Pass system, players will also earn COD Points by playing the game.
