Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 2 is set to launch next week - most likely bringing a load of new maps to the fore.
We already had a glimpse of what to come, with a teaser trailing dropping earlier this week appearing to focus on Ghost.
However, Ghost may not be the only fan-favourite set to return in Season 2. Rust could make an appearance too.
That's because the legendary map was found in the PC beta files. It could also feature as a Gunfight map, which would be amazing.
What other new maps could we see in Season 2?
New maps were one of the main features of Season 1, in particular, Crash, Vacant and Shipment were remade from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
A debate has raged on since the announcement as to whether remade maps is what the community wants.
The new maps for Modern Warfare failed to hit the mark and the solution was to go back to what's worked in the past.
Before launch, data miners found 38 maps in the PC files of the game - here are some of the maps we could see:
10 maps are currently the front runners
- Rust
- Borderline
- Takedown
- Backlot
- Village
- Offshore
- Faridah
- Emporium
- Layover (Ground War)
- Boneyard (Ground War)
There are also plenty of other maps that haven't been released such as:
- Assault
- Harbour
- Breakneck
- Fork (Gunfight)
- Hook (Gunfight)
- Exclusion (Gunfight)
One map that hasn't been mentioned is Scrapyard. Scrapyard is featured as part of the Boneyard map and can be found in the same Spec Ops mode.
So it would be easy for this one to slip under the radar of data miners and arrive during Season 2.
We saw how Port of Verdansk included Vacant, which later was added as its own 6v6 map. Terminal has also been mentioned to return as there is a reimagining in the Layover map.
