Bleach is Slashing its Way to Nintendo Switch

Bleach has had a resurgence in popularity lately, so it’s only fitting to see that the anime is getting a game on Nintendo Switch. It’s not yet known if this will be a new game or a re-release of an older title, but fans are hoping for the former.

Reliable gaming insider Midori reported that a Bleach game is coming to the Switch, which caused a lot of fans to get excited. However, before these gamers could get too excited, Midori said that KLab will be publishing this title, deflating the excitement of many.

While KLab could be publishing a new game for Switch, fans have theorized that this could just be a re-release of mobile game Bleach: Brave Souls. Gacha games getting ported to the Switch is nothing new, but this would be particularly painful for fans of the series, as it’s been years since they’ve gotten a new game.

At the time of writing, it’s not yet known when this reported game is getting revealed, though a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for this June. Since this Direct won’t be focusing on any Switch 2 news, we wouldn’t be surprised if this anime game ends up as one of the announcements.

Brave Souls recently got re-released as a free-to-play game on PS4 and Steam, so a Switch port wouldn’t be impossible at this point. While the game is pretty popular in the mobile space, console users would prefer a brand-new title but we’ll have to wait and see. Fans might like a reworked version of the game with no microtransactions, but that probably won't happen.

It’s been years since the Bleach crew got a console release. The last console game under this anime license was Bleach: Soul Resurrección on PS3, which was a decent enough musou title but nothing more. Jump Force, an anime arena fighter, did feature characters like Ichigo, Aisen, and Rukia, but the game has since been delisted with no legal way to play it anymore.
