While PlayStation is gun-ho on remastering and remaking PS4 games like The Last of Us 2 and Until Dawn for PS5 and PC, the company has completely refused to give fans a remaster of what they really want: Bloodborne.
With Elden Ring’s DLC release date finally confirmed, Soulsborne fans are still pining for a Bloodborne PS5 and PC remaster. While the remaster isn’t happening, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki is “very happy” you want it so bad.
In an interview with Eurogamer surrounding the new Elden Ring expansion, Miyazaki explained that the extreme devotion of the Bloodborne fanbase makes the team “very happy”. That doesn’t mean a remaster is happening anytime soon, though.
“It is a title we hold very dear and just as much as our fans. It does make me very happy to see that there are still so many people passionate about it,” the director said.
“Put simply, it makes me very happy to see it’s a title with a lot of specific memories, both for me and the staff who worked on it. And when we see those passionate voices in the community, of course it makes us feel thrilled, it makes us feel very fortunate to have that and to have those memories.”
Bloodborne is currently trapped exclusively on PlayStation 4, the only SoulsBorne game to be locked to one system. With the game running at only 30fps on the last-gen console, fans have begged for a 60fps upgrade on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Of course, Bloodborne will never make its way to other consoles like the Xbox Series or Nintendo Switch. Developed alongside Sony’s Japan Studio, Bloodborne is a PlayStation-only game through and through, although other console players wouldn’t certainly love it.
Bloodborne is still playable on PlayStation 5, albeit without any form of visual or gameplay enhancements. If you’ve yet to play the awesome PS4 exclusive, you should definitely give it a go alongside its sublime Old Hunters DLC.
If Bloodborne isn’t your bag, for whatever reason, you could also try some soulslike alternatives, like Lords of the Fallen or the surprisingly great Lies of P.
