Breakdown

  • Activision Blizzard has banned 58k Call of Duty accounts
  • This was done with the company's RICOCHET system
  • More ban waves are coming

It looks like Activision Blizzard aren’t done using the ban hammer yet, as 58,000 Call of Duty accounts have since been banned from Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. This comes a few days after the company already had a mass banning, making things a lot harder for these cheaters.

Charlie INTEL has confirmed that 58,000 accounts across both CoD games have been banned thanks to the company’s RICOCHET anti-cheat spotting questionable behavior. Activision Blizzard confirmed that they took down this many accounts with RICOCHET, with some of these cheaters reportedly selling cheats and hacks alike.

"Be wary of bold claims made by cheaters trying to sell subscriptions to their wares. #TeamRICOCHET has been launching a series of targeted cheat vendor enforcements, resulting in over 58,000 detected accounts banned yesterday. More ban waves are expected,” Activision Blizzard told Charlie INTEL.

The news comes not long after Activision Blizzard banned 27,000 Call of Duty accounts over the weekend, also using their RICOCHET anti-cheat. When Activision Blizzard announced these bans, they said that more ban waves were coming and it looks like the company weren’t kidding.

What makes this more interesting is that even after banning 58,000 players from these games, more ban waves are still expected. Since these games tend to have millions of players, it looks like banning these cheaters won’t be stopping anytime soon. If this does lead to a more fair environment for everyone involved, Activision Blizzard have done a great job of removing these cheaters.

Activision Blizzard might be great at removing cheats in Call of Duty, but the company is still struggling to nerf some of the more powerful weapons in these games. Fans playing Warzone have been haunted by a particular pistol combination for a few weeks now and the devs said a patch is coming. Still, there are always overpowered weapons in these games and this won’t be the last of it.
