The Final Shape concludes Destiny’s 10-year story arc, putting everything on the chopping block. The Witness aims to destroy everything players hold dear, and Destiny’s iconic social hub, The Tower, is gone once again.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape brings back beloved character Cayde-6 and introduces the new Prismatic subclass to help players fight against The Witness, but this comes at the expense of the game’s beloved hub area.
Although The Final Shape release date hasn’t arrived yet, multiple leaks have surfaced online. One post on the Destiny 2 subreddit reveals that The Tower has been removed from the game’s Destination Screen after the start of the new expansion.
Players also noticed that the H.E.L.M., the Guardians’ mobile operations outpost, has disappeared. Instead, it appears players will gather in a new social hub set inside The Pale Heart.
Bungie’s latest expansion for Destiny 2 promises to deliver one of the game’s most important stories since The Traveller alerted The Witness at the end of its original campaign. While previous expansions like The Witch Queen are more significant from a mechanics perspective, introducing features like crafting, The Final Shape finally pays off a decade of narratives.
Despite multiple delays, The Final Shape is shaping up to be a fantastic expansion. The mission list alone excites us, along with the new Exotic class items and perk combinations.
As the final expansion for Destiny 2 before a possible Destiny 3, The Final Shape hopes to pay off these past ten years. While it won’t please everyone—no expansion ever does—it looks like a much better experience than the underwhelming Lightfall expansion last year. Yikes.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape releases on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on June 4, 2024.
