The Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake is alive and well, after years of Square Enix dropping the trailer and not revealing anything about this title. Details will be coming soon as part of Dragon Quest Day, but Square was quick to post about this upcoming remake and what platforms it will be coming to.
On the game’s official Twitter, a short teaser for the remake was shown with “The Legacy Begins” appearing on screen. After the words appear, we get the HD-2D logo Square has been using for its games and the systems this remake is coming out for: Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series, Steam, and Windows.
It’s been three years since the announcement of this Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, so knowing which systems the game will be coming to is tremendous news. Admittedly, none of these are too surprising since each major Dragon Quest game since Dragon Quest 11 are readily available on these systems. Even the Nintendo Switch isn’t too surprising, since that system is where the HD-2D movement began with Octopath Traveller.
More details should be released soon, as Dragon Quest Day will presumably reveal when this remake is going to come out. Fans are also hoping for more details on Dragon Quest 12, which is supposed to be a darker installment when compared to the more whimsical Dragon Quest 11. Hardcore fans are also hoping that Dragon Quest X Offline gets a Western release, since this might be the only legal way players can enjoy this title.
Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake has fans everywhere excited, since this installment is often praised as one of the best JRPGs ever made. In addition to starting Erdrick’s tale, the third installment introduced mechanics that influenced other titles in the genre, like character classes.
Fans should expect an announcement on the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake soon. Now we know what systems the JRPG will be available on when it eventually releases.
