Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is only for hardcore fans, as players need to beat Mogh in the base game in order to access the new content. However, most fans haven’t been able to beat Mogh, let alone other tough bosses, which means only a small number of players will feel the Erdtree’s shadow.
Streamer Cohh Carnage pointed out on Twitter that only 37.8% of players have been able to beat Mogh in the game, based on Steam’s achievement system. That means a whopping 62.2% of the game’s fanbase won’t be able to see the Erdtree unless they start beating Mogh now.
It’s not just PC players who will miss out on the Elden Ring DLC, with ScreenTime revealing that only 34.7% of PS5 owners have been able to beat Mogh. So even fewer players on PlayStation will be able to check out the game’s DLC, which is going to ruffle the feathers of some gamers.
FromSoftware has garnered a reputation for making difficult games, so it makes sense that the DLC would be everything hardcore players want from it. While it is disappointing that a number of players won’t be able to check out Shadow of the Erdtree, we imagine those who quit don’t even want to bother with DLC.
Gamers who’ve beaten Elden Ring, which is fewer than expected, have been patiently waiting for this DLC to come out. Based on the expansion’s trailer, it looks like everything fans of this game have wanted, which basically means more Elden Ring. That’s far from a bad thing and we’re sure that Shadow of the Erdtree will be heralded by many as an excellent expansion, just like the other Souls games.
Elden Ring is readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. Shadow of the Erdtree is coming out next week, on June 21, so players who want even more bosses to fight can pick this up soon.
