Elden Ring is another great FromSoftware game, which means it's another difficult experience that a lot of players aren’t going to enjoy. Some gamers have wanted an Easy Mode in these games for years but creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has finally revealed why there isn’t one: it would break the game.

During an interview with The Guardian (via Eurogamer) Miyazaki was asked about adding an Easy Mode to the game, which would open itself to more fans. Miyazaki says that easing up the difficulty will defeat the sense of achievement fans get when beating these games, therefore, breaking the game.

"Had we taken that approach, I don't think the game would have done what it did, because the sense of achievement that players gain from overcoming these hurdles is such a fundamental part of the experience,” Miyazaki explains. “Turning down difficulty would strip the game of that joy - which, in my eyes, would break the game itself."

This is an explanation that fans of Elden Ring and Dark Souls have used throughout the years, as fans love that feeling of overcoming something difficult. Simply put, making the game a bit easier would remove the identity of these titles, hence, Miyazaki’s insistence that these RPGs remain difficult.

While easing up the difficulty would be nice, most fans would agree that these games are being hard are why they’re so good. Even if it feels like banging your head on the wall repeatedly, sometimes, there’s nothing better than taking down that wall with blood pouring from your skull.

Fans should now be able to enjoy Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which adds a ton of new content to the RPG. Gamers were also shocked to see some of the changes implemented through the most recent patch, which makes a certain boss fight much easier.

Both Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC are readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
