Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is now in the hands of fans and it’s one of the best received games the series has ever had. However, some fans have one huge problem with the game - the new Moogle design is incredibly cursed.
While some fans are upset at cleavage censorship or the Fort Condor minigame, most agree that FF7 Rebirth is a brilliant RPG with an unsatisfactory performance mode. However, everyone is united by disdain of this new creepy Moogle.
Instead of the adorable flat fluffball we’ve seen in every other FF game, the Rebirth Moogle is somewhat of an abomination. It’s uncharacteristically realistic, merging the classic design with a Koala albeit with big wet eyes that open wide and peer straight into your very soul.
Even worse is the existence of teeth on the Moogle. I’ve never once wondered if a Moogle has teeth, but now that they do I really wish they didn’t. One picture of the cuddly new abomination shows its smile, brazenly exposing its realistic white teeth.
As expected, fans of Final Fantasy have not taken kindly to the new Moogle design, mostly because it’s terrifying. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players have taken to social media to express their hatred of this innocent, cuddly, ugly creature.
“It’s quite literally the ugliest design they’ve ever made I’m so confused why would they ruin it,” said one fan. “My god do I hate the new Moogle designs. Seeing teeth on them is so cursed,” said another.
Some have even compared the new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Moogle design to the original movie design for Sonic the Hedgehog. Both are unsightly, both are freakishly realistic and both have weird teeth.
After decades of amazing Moogle designs, even including the recent Final Fantasy 16 design, it’s bizarre that one has released to such critical despair. However, it is far from as ugly as that original Sonic film design - what a travesty.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is available right now on PlayStation 5.
