Legendary movie director and known avid gamer John Carpenter has expressed via social media how much he loves Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the latest entry in the iconic Ubisoft franchise.

Now that the creator behind horror classics such as Halloween and The Thing has taken a step back from directing feature films, with his last credit being the 2010 thriller The Ward, he's known to spend time gaming, a passion he doesn't shy away from sharing publicly.

On September 22, Carpenter tweeted out massive praise for The Lost Crown, the latest entry in the Prince of Persia franchise, released back in January.

The 75-year-old mentioned how much he enjoyed the "old school side scrolling adventure" game that pays tribute to the original titles while delivering on the promise of those early entries.

Ubisoft responded to Carpenter's praise, thanking the director for his kind words and ringing endorsement.

Before Prince of Persia became a more established franchise with 2003's Sands of Time, the franchise was known as a solid platformer, with the first game released all the way back in 1989.

The Lost Crown was not only enjoyed by The Horror Master himself. The game currently holds an 86 on Metacritic, with the user score sitting also at a highly positive 84. Here at Gfinity we thoroughly enjoyed the game as well, calling it "arguably one of the best Prince of Persia games in the series."

If you're a Prince of Persia fan just like John Carpenter then you'll be happy to hear that not only you can enjoy The Lost Crown, but also The Rogue Prince of Persia, a roguelike that's currently in early access and playable on Steam that's set to have a wider launch in the near future.
