Modern Warfare 2 players are thrilled by the quality of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) reducing following Modern Warfare 3's launch.
Although a lot of attention is on Season 1 for Sledgehammer Games' latest release, there are several Call of Duty fans that are continuing to load into 2022's Modern Warfare 2.
Season 6 for Modern Warfare 2 is in its final stages and with some preferring the slower pace of play, Infinity Ward's servers continue to host plenty of matches across numerous game modes. With less players, fans are rejoicing after the more competitive players have migrated over to the new release.
According to Reddit user Lumenprotoplasma, Modern Warfare 3 is "more casual than ever."
The player says: "Sweats migrated to MW3" resulting in a significant shift in the SBMM logic within the game. "Upside - fewer sweats, you don't have to give your all in every match, and can try out new weapons," adds the player. On the other hand there are a few negatives. Lumenprotoplasma reveals: "Downside - with more casual players, there are more campers."
Lumenprotoplasma isn't the only player to notice a change in Modern Warfare 2 SBMM. Another adds: "Came back a after about a week and a half and I was dropping hella kills. It's almost as if SBMM was removed." With less players creating a competitive environment, players are utilising some unorthodox weaponry in order to top the scoreboards. One fan reveals: "I've gotten my first 30 killstreak while levelling a crossbow."
Although Modern Warfare 2 SBMM is better than it was, there's still the chance of encountering some sweaty players that are intent on securing victory. "I'm playing both and I've had some super sweaty MW2 lobbies while trying to get to level up battle rifles," reveals one fan.
SBMM remained a hot topic of conversation throughout the Modern Warfare 2 cycle. With less players, perhaps it's worth revisiting Infinity Ward's latest release for those looking for a more casual Call of Duty experience until Modern Warfare 3 SBMM decides to calm down.
