With the potential Nintendo announcement for the upcoming Switch 2 on the horizon, leaks and rumors are starting to get more and more specific.
Speculation is on the rise with developers meeting with Nintendo over the past few days. More recently, new computer-aided design images have started to appear online.
Posted on X by the Verge’s Tom Warren, these CAD images of the rumored Switch 2 showcase a bigger form factor for the console as well as Joy-Con molds that seem to move away from the slide-in rail mechanic present in the current iterations of the Nintendo Switch.
These Joy-Cons appear to be magnetic and slot into the main console tablet, as opposed to having slid in using rails.
Another image shows that the Switch 2 will possibly have a large kickstand, spanning across the tablet's entire length. The tablet is also considerably larger and has thinner bezels compared to the Switch. The printed circuit board, or PCB, also shows where the main chipset will be. A large section of the tablet also shows a blank space where the huge battery can fit in.
While fans in the thread are speculating and checking whether these leaks can be considered legit, Nintendo has the prime opportunity to announce their next-gen device this month considering how gamers reacted to Sony’s announcement of the PS5 Pro. Nintendo can definitely shake the competition once the Switch 2 is announced.
Historically, Nintendo has always had a Nintendo Direct every September since 2017 and fans are eager to hear from the company this month. One of the biggest items for September is the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, which will feature the titular princess as she adventures throughout Hyrule. Whether it is the last Zelda game for the Switch will still be up to Nintendo.
