Overwatch 2 Continues to Disappoint Fans With More Dumb Decisions

Overwatch 2 will be removing one of its PvE modes, as the devs in Activision Blizzard feel that it just isn’t resonating with players right now. The multiplayer shooter has made a habit of disappointing its fans with various decisions and we’re sure this won’t make them any happier.

Activision Blizzard told fans on the game’s forums that the Hero Mastery Gauntlet PvE mode will be removed, as players don’t seem to be taking part in it. Players will have until the end of Season 10 to play the mode, though we doubt they’re going to miss it much if it truly hasn’t resonated with anyone.

For those unaware, Hero Mastery Gauntlet was a tower defense-like mode where Overwatch 2 players would team up to fight robots. It was different and fun, though players still preferred the tried-and-true gameplay of two squads fighting each other to the death. Perhaps Activision Blizzard will try harder with their next PvE mode, but we’ll wait and see.

Many fans are still burned by some of the company’s broken promises for this shooter, including the cancellation of the highly-anticipated Hero Mode missions. These would have added some much-needed story content to the game, instead of limiting the lore to animated shorts.

Hero Mastery Courses will still play a part in Overwatch 2, but it seems that the company really is cutting back on the shooter’s PvE content. If anything, this proves that the decision to rebrand the game as a sequel has fallen flat on its face, with the devs still trying to find a proper identity. Only time will tell if this game can truly feel like a sequel, though hardcore fans are still digging the core gameplay loop.

Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play shooter and is readily available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Activision Blizzard has also made the game available on Steam, as they try to grow this shooter’s fanbase.
