With over 8 million players already enjoying PocketPair’s Palworld, the rise of Palworld cheats was an inevitable outcome. Unfortunately, the rise of cheating is already very hard to fight, according to the game’s developers.
Palworld has already proven controversial due to claims of plagiarism from the Pokémon series, claims that The Pokémon Company is taking very seriously. However, developer PocketPair has confirmed that it’s hard at work to stop cheating in Palworld multiplayer.
In an update on Steam, the developer revealed that it has already introduced some “countermeasures against various cheats and exploits”. However, the game will require even more updates to stamp out the rise of cheating.
PocketPair revealed that fighting cheaters will be a difficult task, saying: “it is currently difficult to completely prevent all cheating immediately”.
“We will continue to focus even more on security and aim to create an environment where everyone can play with peace of mind,” the developer continued. “We sincerely apologize to all players who have been affected by this incident. Thank you for your continued support of Palworld.”
Via IGN, cheat prevention group Xyrem revealed that Palworld cheating is rampant due to the game’s complete lack of anti-cheat functionality. Even during online play, the server does not check for any discrepancies.
“Everything is client authoritative. Meaning most things you do inside the game are done via the client, the server does not check for any of these things,” they said. “So for example, you can spawn items, manipulate your player's speed, damage, health, etc..”
At the time of writing, Palworld cheating does affect much. However, with the Palworld roadmap confirming updates that add PvP and other online functionality, the need for anti-cheat software is needed.
Cheats are already available without the best Palworld mods, you only need a tool like Cheat Engine to make use of any hack you want.
