Persona 3 Reload is getting some DLC later this year, giving fans the lengthy Aigis-centric epilogue that was originally a part of Persona 3 FES. Fans were then quick to ask if the DLC means we could get the female protagonist down the line, but those hopes were quickly shot down.
During an interview with Famitsu (translated by Persona Central), producer Kazuhisa Wada was asked if the female lead from Persona 3 Portable would eventually be added to Reload. Wada quickly said that there was no chance of this happening, though there were originally plans to add her.
“I feel bad for the female protagonist, but unfortunately there is no chance of that happening. Of course we also considered plans to include her, but the hurdles were too high. It was expected to take a long development period and would have cost several times more than Episode Aigis,” Wada stated. “Additionally, we as the Persona Team need to work on completely new titles in addition to remakes. Our staff are working to ensure that there are future developments you can look forward to, so we appreciate your understanding.”
While the recent announcement of Episode Aigis: The Answer gave fans hope for more Persona 3 Reload DLC, it seems that won’t be happening. It’s a shame that fans will never have an official way to play her in Reload, especially since she was constantly brought up after the game’s announcement.
Modders on PC were able to add the female protagonist, managing to change her menu screen aesthetic and UI colors. However, since this is a mod, the character can’t appear in the game’s various cutscenes, due to the amount of work that would require. The only official way to play as FeMC is to pick up Persona 3 Portable, which is readily available on modern systems, at the least.
Persona 3 Reload is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. Episode Aigis: The Answer is slated to come out this September as part of the game’s Expansion Pass.
