It looks like Atlus has plans for a Persona 4 remake after the success of Persona 3 Reload. While a remake of this entry isn’t too surprising, fans shouldn’t expect to see this remake anytime soon, as the company is currently busy with other projects.
Gaming insider Midori responded to a fan asking about a potential P4 remake, saying one was in the works but fans will have to “wait for a while.” Atlus is reportedly working on Persona 6 and other games, so this remake of the most popular Persona game will take time.
Based on Midori’s wording it looks like the highly anticipated Persona 6 will come out before this rumoured Persona 4 remake. Hardcore fans would prefer a remake of the first two Persona games, as they’re unappreciated and don’t have readily available versions for fans to buy. Still, given the popularity of this game, a remake wouldn’t surprise us at all.
Remaking Persona 4 isn’t needed, as Persona 4 Golden is readily available on modern systems and is an excellent JRPG anyone can enjoy. But fans might appreciate the upgraded visuals and improved gameplay mechanics that come with a remake, if Reload is anything to go by.
While fans wouldn’t mind a remake of the fourth entry, there is some concern that some of the content in Golden might not make it. Fans were already pretty upset when Atlus didn’t add the female protagonist to Persona 3 Reload. If Atlus removes Marie and other additional content from Golden, that could anger a ton of fans who like the extra stuff.
Even if Atlus ended up removing the Golden content, there’s a very good chance their Persona 4 remake could still be really good. Persona 3 Reload may have had some missing content, but we still gave the JRPG a 10/10 for having excellent gameplay and additional story for the party members.
The Persona 4 remake won’t be coming out soon, assuming it's not canceled or delayed for other projects. However, fans can easily purchase Persona 4 Golden now, which is already a great game in its own right.
