Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, the underrated Jango Fett spin-off is coming to modern platforms. After being mostly trapped on outdated consoles, the lesser-known Star Wars game is finally making its long-awaited comeback.

Developed by Aspyr Media, the same team behind remasters of KOTOR and Star Wars Battlefront, Bounty Hunter’s new port aims to take advantage of all modern platforms.

With improved frame rates, resolutions and tweaked visuals, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter has never looked better. Well, outside of running on an emulator.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is an original story set before the events of Episode II: Attack of the Clones. As Jango Fett, you’ve been hired to capture a deranged Dark Jedi, and you’ll have to use a variety of gadgets, including your awesome jet pack, to complete your contract.

Alongside the visual improvements to the 22-year-old game, Aspyr Media has added a brand-new unlock able for players who complete the main story. Upon completion, you’ll be able to play as Boba Fett, Jango’s clone son who is undoubtedly the cooler Fett.

Star Wars Bounty Hunter is far from the best game set in George Lucas’ galaxy. When it released in 2002, the action game was met with largely mixed reviews due to uninspired level design and clunky, although inventive, combat. Essentially, it’s flawed but fun, which is true of most 2000s era Star Wars games.

With fans now in a golden age of new Star Wars games, including the brilliant Star Wars Jedi Survivor and the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, it’s also worth spending the time to revisit some old classics. With the Knights of the Old Republic remake still nowhere to be seen, it’s time Bounty Hunter got its five seconds in the spotlight.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter releases on August 1, 2024 for PlayStation, Xbox, PC. and Nintendo Switch. Aspyr Media has also created specific Steam Deck options for those on Valve’s handheld.
