- This update is currently only available on PC
ConcernedApe’s groundbreaking cozy farming simulator has become more popular than ever with the release of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update. After eight years of leading the indie scene’s move towards relaxing experiences, Stardew has cracked its all-time record for most concurrent players.
Adding some truly bizarre patch notes Stardew Valley 1.6 is a massive update to the farming game that fixes bugs, overhauls features and adds new items. For example, you can now put hats on cats and dogs! Best update ever?
The new update has caused thousands upon thousands of fans to jump back into the farming game. On Steam, currently the only platform to have access to the update, over 140,000 players have hopped back into the adorable pixelated world of Stardew to check out the changes.
According to Steam Charts, Stardew Valley 1.6 caused the game to hit its all-time peak concurrent player account over its eight year history with 140,428 players all farming at the exact same time. Of course, more players than this jumped in during the past 24 hours, making it the most popular moment in Stardew’s life.
ConcernedApe’s latest update isn’t the last update to the farming game, but it may be one of the last big updates to the title as work on the developer’s next game, Haunted Chocolatier, continues.
Haunted Chocolatier will see you run your own chocolate store and develop relationships with a new cast of NPCs. The game will also have a larger focus on combat compared to Stardew Valley. While it won’t be the same game, ConcernedApe’s attention to detail with Stardew - especially in this latest update - only has us more excited for his next game.
Stardew Valley 1.6 is currently only available on PC, but the update will be coming to other platforms in the future.
