A new PlayStation 5 and PC port of Supermassive Games’ narrative horror game Until Dawn is reportedly coming very soon.
Released on PlayStation 4 in 2015, Until Dawn was critically acclaimed for being a thoroughly engaging narrative game. Starring actors such as Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, the game was quickly beloved by fans.
In a recent report by PlayStation insider billbil-kun, a remastered version of Until Dawn is reportedly coming to PlayStation 5 and PC very soon. This new port will include increased graphical features and support for higher framerates than the PS4 original.
The report claims that the new version of Until Dawn will be announced within the next 15 days, likely within a new State of Play showcase. With Xbox currently stealing the show this month with reveals of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and Avowed, PlayStation may be looking to make its own big announcements.
Until Dawn’s PS5 and PC ports don’t currently have a concrete release date. However, the report does claim that the titles have been in development for more than a year at the time of writing.
The new versions of Until Dawn are also expected to be revealed alongside new information on Death Stranding 2. Other PlayStation exclusive titles will also be present at the State of Play event.
PlayStation’s new ports of Until Dawn may be due to parent company Sony’s decision to turn the title into a movie franchise. While many have laughed at the idea of turning an interactive movie with multiple endings into one movie, it could be a decent box office success if played right.
Until Dawn is one of the best PlayStation exclusives to this day. While Supermassive Games has continued its narrative horror games with The Dark Pictures Anthology, none have hit the level of success that Until Dawn did. Maybe the studio’s rumoured Scream game will be a huge hit.
