Original Story: Xbox has accidentally leaked the Game Pass details for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with many expecting a major announcement for the shooter soon. Various teaser trailers for the shooter have been released recently, but this new leak confirms that the Game Pass reports were true.
Numerous fans who have the Game Pass app on their phones received a notification that confirmed Black Ops 6 is coming to the service on day one. This notification leads to a blank page on Xbox’s website, though the URL does confirm that this shooter is coming to Game Pass.
Fans and insiders alike speculated that a new Call of Duty game would eventually come to Game Pass at launch, but seeing it happen this early is quite surprising. Xbox has now taken all of that surprise away with this reveal, but fans are still excited for what's to come.
We’ve already seen a ton of teaser trailers for Black Ops 6, though actual gameplay has yet to be shown for this anticipated shooter. Microsoft did say that the shooter would be shown off in next month’s Xbox Games Showcase, so fans can expect concrete gameplay then. It will be interesting to see if the gameplay will be enough to convert fans into Game Pass subscribers, but we’ll wait and see.
Activision Blizzard and Xbox have reportedly had plenty of internal arguments regarding CoD coming to Game Pass, since the series is a sales juggernaut. Bringing the franchise to Xbox’s premiere service will likely win over plenty of fans, but that also means losing physical and digital sales for the games. There are rumors that CoD’s presence will lead to an increase in Game Pass price, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Regardless of what happens, fans are excited to see what Black Ops 6 will bring to the franchise. Previous entries have mostly consisted of Modern Warfare games, with last year’s Modern Warfare 3 scoring poorly, so this could be a breath of fresh air.
