Thanks to his ability to slow enemies, Dan Heng is one of the most versatile characters in the game, and this Honkai Star Rail Dan Heng build can keep it that way. With buff damage and reduced enemy defense, his utility also makes him an excellent sub-DPS unit for any roster that can take advantage of his skills.
When building Dan Heng, we focus on his offensive stats only. His ability cycling is consistent, making energy regeneration unnecessary. Alternatively, you can create a support build and use him only for his debuffs if you already have a five-star DPS carry.

How to get Dan Heng in Honkai Star Rail
You'll get Dan Heng for free as one of the starting characters early in the game. After that, you can pull duplicates from any Warp banner. According to leaks, he'll be rate-up in his own banner during Honkai Star Rail 1.3.
The best Honkai Star Rail Dan Heng build
The following build is for Bailu. You can find more Honkai Star Rail builds on our dedicated hub page.
Dan Heng has a lot of build flexibility, and you can either optimise him for his personal damage or for his support capabilities. If you get lucky with the right Light Cones and relics, you can even build him as a well-rounded support unit for any elemental team.
Best Light Cone for Dan Heng
Only Silence Remains is Dan Heng’s signature Light Cone that works very well with his kit. He gets to attack and crit rate bonuses when he has the Light Cone equipped. You can also use Darting Arrow, which also offers the same bonuses as Only SIlence Remains but you need to defeat an enemy to activate the effect.
Only Silence Remains
Increase ATK of its wearer by 16%. If there are two or fewer enemies on the field, increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12%.
Darting Arrow
When the wearer defeats an enemy, increases ATK by 24% for three turn(s).
Darting Arrow is one of the best free-to-play Light Cones available in the game but it has low base stats. Until you get a four or five-star alternative, it is a solid option for the early game.
Best relics for Dan Heng
Thanks to Dan Heng’s flexibility, he can take on the role of a main DPS or a sub-DPS. You can go for the Eagle of Twilight Line to boost his personal damage or you can use the Sprightly Vonwacq set to maximise his support capabilities. The Musketeer of Wild Wheat set is also a great early-game option if you do not have access to the other two relic sets.
Eagle of Twilight Line
- 2-Piece Bonus: Increases Wind DMG by 10%.
- 4-Piece Bonus: After the wearer uses Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25%.
Sprightly Vonwacq
- 2-Piece Bonus: Increases the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. When the wearer's SPD reaches 145 or higher, the wearer's action is Advanced Forward by 50% immediately upon entering battle.
Musketeer of Wild Wheat
- 2-Piece Bonus: ATK increases by 10%.
- 4-Piece Bonus: The wearer's SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.
The stats you should be looking to get on your relics are Wind damage bonus, crit rate, and crit damage. If you are looking to use Dan Heng solely as a support, then you can consider getting energy regeneration substats.

Dan Heng’s second EIdolon is one of the best we’ve seen for four-star characters. It reduces his talent cooldown by one turn, which increases the Wind RES penalty for your entire party. Since Dan Heng is a four-star character, you should get most of his Eidolons while pulling for higher-rarity units.
