How To Surf

After you battle the sixth gym leader Gordie, who is the rock-type master, you will then make your way down Route 9. Along the way, you might notice that there is an excess amount of water and some Pokemon can be seen swimming in these bodies of water.

As you make your way along, you will encounter Team Yell tormenting a doctor and his Pokemon. After you defeat these two, you realize that he is the same NPC that gave you your Bike back in the Wild Area! He then equips your bike with the ability to traverse water and there you go! No more Surf move!

How To Get Lapras

In order to get Lapras, you will need to head to the Wild Area - specifically the Lake of Outrage. As it is swimming in the water, you can not approach it from land or with a fishing rod; you will need to use your bike to swim over the water. Supposedly, it is far more common to see Lapras when it is raining rather than sunny.

The Lapras will be around level 60 and has the move 'sing', so be sure to bring a strong team and be ready to bring a Pokemon that can inflict a status condition (Sleep, paralysis etc).

You can also find Lapras in Max Raid Battles: Bridge Field, Dusty Bowl, East Lake Axewell, Giant's Cap, Giant's Mirror, Lake of Outrage, South Lake Miloch, Stony Wilderness, West Lake Axewell, as well as a Gigantamax Raid Battle at the Giant's Seat in Pokemon Shield.
