Pokemon Sword and Shield has released and many players will be searching for the evolution stones in order to evolve their Pokemon such as Eevee.
Much like any other Pokemon title, there are Pokemon that require special actions or items that will trigger its evolution cycle. One of these special items is, of course, evolution stones; most Pokemon fans have known the evolution stones from generation one as they were used to evolve Eevee into one of its three forms.
Be sure to watch our wide variety of Pokemon content here!
Now with multiple Pokemon requiring some type of stone to evolve, we'll take you through where they are all located in Sword and Shield!
Circle of Rocks
Unlike other Pokemon games where the central city in the game would have a department store for you to purchase all of the stones, this time around it is much much easier to find them all.
There is a specific area of the Wild Area that lays waste to all of these stones. To access this area you are going to need the surfing ability for your Rotom Bike which we cover here.

Starting at the steps that enter you into Hammerlocke City, you are going to want to head to the Lake of Outrage which is the home of the strongest Pokemon in the game and is just to the right of Hammerlocke, or left depending on which angle you take.
Once you find yourself at the Lake of Outrage and cross the body of water you will notice a large circle of stones. Behind each stone is one of the evolution stones and they respawn as well, meaning you can come back periodically and get as many of the same stone as you want!
The full list of stones behind the rocks are:
- Shiny Stone
- Water Stone
- Leaf Stone
- Fire Stone
- Moon Stone
- Ice Stone
- Thunder Stone
- Dusk Stone
- Sun Stone
- Dawn Stone
Alternatively, here are the locations within the world itself:
Shiny Stone - (Route 8) There’s a ladder on the right side of Doctor Joanna, go up the ladder and a path on the right will lead to the stone.
Water Stone - (Route 2) On the island, after you get your bike upgraded to a water bike.
Leaf Stone - (Turffield) Turn left at the Pokemon centre and walk until you reach an area with ancient stone structures. There’s a man looking at one of the stones with his arms crossed, the stone is located at the end of the path behind him.
Fire Stone - (Motostoke Riverbank Wild Area) Cross the bridge that’s connecting North Lake Miloch to Motostoke Riverbank. After the bridge, turn left and you’ll see a red Pokeball pickup next to 3 rusted pipes.
Moon Stone - (Dusty Bowl Wild Area) Located in the top right (north-east) corner of Dusty Bowl.
Ice Stone - (Route 9) Start from where you unlock the Rotom Water Bike, drive through the water to the top right corner to find a glowing item pickup.
Thunder Stone - (North Lake Miloch Wild Area) In the top right corner (north-east) of that region is a little hill with grass on top of it. Behind the grass you find a red Pokeball on the floor.
Dusk Stone - (Stow-on-Side Town) Behind the Pokemon Center.
Sun Stone - (Dusty Bowl Wild Area) In the middle of that area by a big rock. Under one of the arches of the rock, you will find a red Pokeball.
Dawn Stone - TBC
