Rocket League Season 2 drops on December 9, and with it is coming a whole load of new content!
You can check out our other Rocket Pass guides on the site, including our one here on how to level up fast, but we’re here to talk Competitive Play for now.
In this mode, Season 2 is introducing tiers, so we’re here to explain how competitive is changing!
Here’s everything we know so far about the number of wins you’ll need to rank up in Rocket League Season 2.
Then you start racing to the top as quickly as you can!
How Many Matches Do I Need To Play To Be Ranked?
You’ll firstly need to play ten matches in Rocket League competitive to become ranked.
Supposedly the game has a good grasp of your tier after four, but will make you play another six to be sure.
Once you’ve played all the matches you’ll be ranked in Division II of your Appropriate skill level.
How Many Matches Do I Need To Rank Up?
Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a ‘win 10 matches to rank up’ kind of system.
Instead, you’ll be earning Rank Points (RP) which will determine your rank!
The amount of RP will vary depending on the rating of players you are matched against and how well you play, which is all related to your hidden MMR value.

Winning matches is the only way to rank up though, and losing too many matches could see you be demoted quickly!
We hope this answers your question about how many matches you’ll need to play, be sure to check out our other guides if you need a hand with anything else!
